About Montes Custom Cabinets
Montes Custom Cabinets, formerly Montes Custom Works, was founded by Marc Monte in 2009 in New York and then in 2016 in Connecticut. Marc has a lifetime of experience from guitar building, jewelry and watchmaking, to restorations and fine art. Woodworking had been a passion since youth, but made a living in other industries until a recession and natural disaster changed all that. Marc has a resume of long hours in the millwork and restoration shops of long established greats in NY. In 2012 Marc's home on Long Island was destroyed by hurricane Sandy. After loosing everything, it was time to start anew. Marc found a home in need of restoration in Ridgefield, CT and has worked rebuild it.
Arriving in Ridgefield as a stranger Marc paid his dues with years of hard handyman work, replacing rotted wood, fencing, and all the dirty jobs no one wanted while gaining the respect of elder established carpenters of the area. He has great relationships with many and enjoys partnering with and referring nearly all local firms.
Then another beginning. Marina, Marc's partner and fiancee has been involved part time since 2021, in 2023 has assumed and lead role in business operations, and then full time involvement and investment in 2024. With great interpersonal and marketing skills she has reimagined MCC, which is a family business growing to meet market challenges.
Montes Custom Cabinets supports local organizations financially and with personal donated time. From Ann’s Place, ACT Theater and The Ridgefield Library, to the Prospector Theater, Ridgefield Theater Barn , RPAC and Woodcock Nature Center. On a monthly basis Marc volunteers building handicap ramps with Jesse Lee Memorial Church’s Spirit Builder program, and helps those in need including the elderly with home services. MCC also supports all local organizations from animal rescues to town events. Montes Custom Cabinetry is committed to Ridgefield!
Have a drink on me.... The new bar top at The Hideaway, Ridgefield CT. We worked tirelessly on this project. Technically this was a "rush job" start to finish, which we made off site in under two weeks, and installed in a few hours on Christmas morning so the iconic restaurant did not have to shut down during regular hours! Knotty pine veneer and solid hickory edge. New drink rail and accents in copper.
When the bridge at Jesse Lee Church needed to be re-built, we took care of it! We made a brand new bridge preserving the historic design and style to make it feel as though it had been there all along.
Montes Custom Cabinets is committed to building in an environmentally friendly way, and to using , and reusing as much existing and locally sourced materials as possible. We are also committed to our community partners and support Ridgefield Supply, now East Haven Building Supply, Ridgefield Hardware, Board Silly sawmill and all other local partners. We love local and Ridgefield is at the center of it all.
